Add Dictionaries for the AutoCorrect Feature

To add new dictionaries for the AutoCorrect mechanism, or to replace an existing one, follow these steps:

  1. Download an AutoCorrect dictionary file for the desired language. The file needs to have a .dat file extension. An example of a website that includes some AutoCorrect dictionary files is: OpenOffice Extensions Search Page.
  2. Open the Preferences dialog box (Options > Preferences) and go to Editor > Edit Modes > Author > AutoCorrect > Dictionaries.
  3. Choose one of the following two options for adding the downloaded files:
    1. Copy the downloaded .dat file to the default directory displayed in the Dictionaries default folder option.. Note that if you are replacing an existing dictionary file, this is the best option.
    2. Copy the downloaded .dat file to any other directory, select the Include dictionaries from option, and select that directory. If you choose this option, make sure you read this important note.
  4. Restart the application for the AutoCorrect mechanism to start using the new dictionary.
