Contents of File Deleted After Commenting/Making Edits
Post by dreifsnider »
Hi Oxygen team,
We've notice an issue where sometimes, for whatever reason, Content Fusion deletes the contents of a file, causing the file to become corrupted and no longer viewable in Content Fusion. This seems to happen after a comment/edit was made to the file.
We first noticed this issue when using the APPROVAL plugin available here: https://github.com/oxygenxml/web-author ... -approvals
However, we're not sure if this issue is being caused by the APPROVAL plugin.
In the concatenated APPROVAL view, some topics would display as "Premature end of file", which makes sense because the file is completely empty, for example:
We have yet to be able to consistently reproduce this issue, so unfortunately, we're not exactly sure what's causing it.
We are running Content Fusion 6.1 Build ID 2024031214
Has this issue been reported before?
Thank you!
Daniel

Hi Cosmin,
Thank you for your reply!
Unfortunately, we aren't able to reproduce this issue either; it seems to happen very intermittently.
Here are the following commonalities I've found:
Is it possible for us to retrieve a history of the corrupted files, kind of like a commit log? I'm wondering the changes that the users made to the files somehow caused the contents of the file to be deleted.
Thanks again!
Daniel

- This only seems to happens when the editReferencesInPlace option is enabled through the APPROVAL plugin

Hello,
We managed to discover the cases when the error reported by you occurs.
We are planning to fix the registered issue (WA-7383) in the near future, and as a recommendation, we suggest that until this fix is implemented (if possible), you avoid editing maps with expanded topics (this being a BETA feature).
When we have a solution in this regard, we can notify you here, on the forum, or via email.
Best,
Cosmin

Hi Cosmin,
I'd like to check if there's been any updates or progress made on resolving this issue?
Our Content Fusion and Web Author users heavily rely on this feature and would like to continue using it as soon as possible.
Thank you!

Thank you for the update Cosmin!
We understand that you cannot provide a definite time when the next release will be available.
Will there also be a new version of Web Author as well?
Thanks again,
Daniel

Hello,
Are you inquiring about the APPROVAL feature of Web Author?
Please note that this plugin is specifically developed for use with Content Fusion.

Hi Cosmin,
Apologies for missing your previous message. Yes, this inquiry was about the APPROVAL functionality in Content Fusion's Web Author interface. Sorry for the confusion.
We noticed that Content Fusion 7.0 was recently released. Does this version include a fix for this issue?
Thank you!
