CCMS with Sharepoint - Recommendations?

Does anyone have any recommendations regarding component content management systems that are capable of integrating with MS SharePoint? We've been hunting for a CCMS for some time now, but our company threw us a twist by announcing that we would be implementing SharePoint in the upcoming months.

We have had a few demos from vendors, and it looked like DITA Exchange was going to be the solution - until we got their quote. Our technical publications department is small (three writers) and the cost of DITA Exchange was simply WAY out of our budget.

Our needs are really pretty basic. Checking in/out and where-used functionality are our biggest requirements.

Any recommendations or guidance would be most appreciated.

Hi Dan,

The only CMS built on top of Sharepoint that I know of is DITA Exchange.
How about if you use Oxygen's Sharepoint Browser view and work directly with the DITA content stored on the Sharepoint server, without any CMS?
Or you could ask around on the DITA Users List:

or place a question on the LinkedIn DITA Awareness Group, there might be solutions that I do not know of.
