Support for CGM graphics

I would like to recommend XMLOxygen Author for my company. However non-support of CGMs is a big problem. Can you add a plug in for CGM?

Hi,

Oxygen does not yet support CGM, we plan to investigate adding out of the box support for CGM in a future version.
Basically Oxygen is a Java application so if an additional added library installs also a plugin for the Java image library then Oxygen would be able to view the CGM.
For example this project:

has such a library but is very limited and needs some modifications in order to view even a simple CGM image. I'll give you more details about this in an email.

You promised a follow up email to my inquiry about support for CGM graphics. Never received anything after your initial reply.

I'm back to building a framework for my company's DTD and the ability to view CGMs in Oxygen could be deal breaker. Currently stuck with Arbortext and really want to dump it.

Hi Charles,

A couple of questions about the CGM files you want to see in the Author page:

1) What version of CGM are they saved in?

2) The viewer that we might be able to integrate in Oxygen is compatible with CGM 1.0 and for newer CGM versions it might give slightly different results than a fully compliant viewer (smaller fonts, sometimes different colors, small changes in the lines which are drawn).
Would this be acceptable to you? What are the technical documentation writers doing with the CGM images? Are they describing the content from the CGM images in detail?
