Uninstalling the Standalone Application

The following procedure will remove Oxygen from your system. All data stored in the installation directory will be removed, including any customizations or any other data you have stored within that directory. Make a back up of any data you want to keep prior to performing this procedure.

  1. Backup any data you want to keep from the Oxygen installation folder.
  2. Remove the application according to your operating system:
    • Windows - Use the appropriate uninstaller shortcut provided with your OS.
    • OS X or Linux - Manually delete the installation folder and all its contents.
  3. If you want to remove the user preferences:
    • Windows - Remove the following directory depending on the product: %APPDATA%\Roaming\com.oxygenxml (for Oxygen XML Editor), %APPDATA%\Roaming\com.oxygenxml.author (for Oxygen XML Author), %APPDATA%\Roaming\com.developer (for Oxygen XML Developer). Note that %APPDAT% is usually [user-home-dir]\Application Data and it is usually hidden.
    • OS X - Remove the following directory from the user home folder, depending on the product: Library/Preferences/com.oxygenxml (for Oxygen XML Editor), Library/Preferences/com.oxygenxml.author (for Oxygen XML Author), Library/Preferences/com.oxygenxml.developer (for Oxygen XML Developer).
    • Linux - Remove the following directory from the user home directory, depending on the product: .com.oxygenxml (for Oxygen XML Editor), .com.oxygenxml.author (for Oxygen XML Author), .com.oxygenxml.developer (for Oxygen XML Developer).

Uninstalling the Eclipse Plugin

The following procedure will remove the Oxygen XML Editor plugin from your system. It will not remove the Eclipse platform. If you wish to uninstall Eclipse, refer to its uninstall instructions.

  1. Choose the menu option Help > About > Installation Details.
  2. Select Oxygen XML Editor plugin from the list of plugins.
  3. Choose Uninstall.
  4. Accept the Eclipse restart.
  5. If you want to remove the user preferences:
    • Windows - Remove the following directory depending on the product: %APPDATA%\Roaming\com.oxygenxml (for Oxygen XML Editor), %APPDATA%\Roaming\com.oxygenxml.author (for Oxygen XML Author), %APPDATA%\Roaming\com.developer (for Oxygen XML Developer). Note that %APPDAT% is usually [user-home-dir]\Application Data and it is usually hidden.
    • OS X - Remove the following directory from the user home folder, depending on the product: Library/Preferences/com.oxygenxml (for Oxygen XML Editor), Library/Preferences/com.oxygenxml.author (for Oxygen XML Author), Library/Preferences/com.oxygenxml.developer (for Oxygen XML Developer).
    • Linux - Remove the following directory from the user home directory, depending on the product: .com.oxygenxml (for Oxygen XML Editor), .com.oxygenxml.author (for Oxygen XML Author), .com.oxygenxml.developer (for Oxygen XML Developer).
